Feb. 5, 2009 A Special Call-Out To The PAO's Hardworking ParalegalsThe PAO employs 55 paralegals who support the work of 220 Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys (DPAs). The PAO could not function without the support of these outstanding professionals, who take great pride in their work and help make the PAO one of the best offices in the nation. Paralegals in the PAO are faced with new challenges each day. In turn, they have become adept at solving problems, managing large, difficult caseloads, and meeting the needs of the many attorneys who rely on their special skills. Paralegals in the PAO perform a wide-array of important work within the office. All paralegals perform traditional paralegal duties such as legal research, preparation of pleadings, and caseload management. In addition, paralegals in the Criminal Division also provide trial support to DPAs. They locate and contact witnesses and victims who must appear in court, prepare trial exhibits, and assemble trial notebooks. Civil Division paralegals assist DPAs with civil litigation, transactional work, and client advising, and Family Support paralegals negotiate agreed orders and provide courtroom assistance. The paralegals perform outstanding work and do so with a cheerful attitude and eye toward serving the public. We appreciate all that they do. Return to the News |
