Dec. 7, 2009 Repeat Burglar of the MonthThe PAO's fight against repeat burglars -- known as the Repeat Burglar Initiative or "RBI" -- began in June of 2009, and has been paying off. Each month, The Prosecutor's Post features a burglar that has been caught, convicted, and sentenced. This month's burglar, Robert Leonard Hunt, Jr. is a 24-year-old serial burglar and car thief, who has 11 prior felony and 24 prior misdemeanor convictions, and was last released from the Department of Corrections in May of 2008 after serving a lengthy prison sentence. Shortly after his release, Hunt returned to his career in crime by writing forged checks and passing stolen checks. He also stole a car and was caught in possession of a credit card that had been stolen from a Shoreline home. Hunt was caught, charged and pleaded guilty to multiple felonies charges stemming from his latest crime spree. Detectives from many jurisdictions worked hard to piece together several different crimes. As a result, Hunt is now serving a seven-year prison sentence. DPA Yarden Weidenfeld handled the prosecution of this serial burglar. Return to the News
