Senior DPAs on the Frontline Tackling Gang Crime

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (PAO) has been awarded a one-year grant to fund two Senior DPAs to partner with police to better investigate and prosecute gang-related violent crime.

This grant award comes at a time when the PAO is filing an increased number of serious violent, gang-related crimes.  Defendant Omar Norman was recently convicted of First Degree Murder for the 2005 fatal shooting of reputed Deuce Eight gang leader Terrell Milam.  Norman was a founding member of the Low Profile gang sect, an off-shoot of the Deuce Eights.  He now faces more than 50 years in prison.

In another gang-related case, the PAO intends to seek the Court's permission to try a 15-year-old Auburn area gang member as an adult for shooting a rival gang member in the torso three times in broad daylight and shooting a second victim in the hand.  Had this defendant been age 16 at the time of the crime, he would automatically be charged as an adult under Washington State law.
