These offenses range from simple misdemeanors to serious felonies, including sexual assault and murder cases. The Juvenile Section has its own Filing Unit, Records Unit, Trial Team, and Victim Assistance Unit, and is staffed by 14 attorneys and 19 administrative staff members. In 2008, the Juvenile Section filed 2,300 misdemeanor and 1,300 felony cases. The mission of King County's juvenile justice system is to rehabilitate juvenile offenders so they may enter adulthood as contributing members of society. This is a particularly important task when dealing with serious offenders who are often entrenched in dangerous lifestyles, such as gang activity. Return to the News
