Dec. 1, 2008 State v. Delanty: Defendant Thomas Delanty was convicted of 26 counts of Theft in the First and Second Degree for bilking an 89-year-old woman out of more than $100,000 after being hired to handle her finances. The defendant lied to the victim and her family when he claimed to be a CPA and financial planner. Delanty will be sentenced on December 12, and faces a standard-range sentence of 43-57 months in prison. Senior DPA Scott Peterson handled the prosecution of this case. Fualaau: Defendant Roger Fualaau was convicted of First Degree Kidnapping and First Degree Assault with a Firearm Enhancement for kidnapping and shooting a man who refused to "take the fall" for Fualaau's friend, who had been caught illegally possessing a firearm. The defendant now faces a standard range of 18-23 years in prison. Senior DPA Dan Soukup handled the prosecution of this case. Return to Home Page, Return to the News State v. Jackson: Defendant Garret Jackson pleaded guilty to Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Second Degree Burglary, and Criminal Trespass for stealing a car from a secured garage. At the time of the crime, the defendant was wanted on multiple charges in King and Snohomish Counties. Although not yet 30-years-old, the defendant has five previous felony convictions for eluding police, including leading police on a wrong-way chase on I-5 in Snohomish County. The defendant now faces a 60-month prison sentence. He was also recently sentenced to a 120-month prison sentence for crimes committed in Snohomish County. Woodley: Defendant Darren Woodley pleaded guilty to one count of First Degree Assault, Domestic Violence and one count of Second Degree Assault, Domestic Violence after brutally assaulting two different victims with whom he had relationships. As part of his plea, the defendant agreed to an exceptional sentence up from the standard range. He now faces an exceptional sentence of 15-20 years in prison.
