Economy and Social Justice

I believe strongly in the right of every individual to have access to economic opporitunity and to be treated with dignity, justice, and equality.  I also and in the rights of workers to organize and earn family wages. King County has the honor of being renamed for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. King, which fits the values we embrace in our community and guides the work I strive to accomplish.

My goal is focusing on how King County can respond to the Great Recession by working with regional partners to promote job growth and economic recovery. King County has historically been the economic engine of Washington State, providing approximately 40 percent of the state’s jobs. Due to the Great Recession, King County lost nearly 165,000 jobs, but we must focus on how we can use our strengths--educated workers, high quality of life, and good infrastructure--to regain those jobs and grow for the future.
