BudgetI served as King County's budget chair in 2002 and 2003, and 2009 during King County's budget crisis. Due to annexations and incorporations, steeply rising health care costs, voter approved initiatives, and a tax structure inadequate for serving an urban county, King County has faced annual deficits in our general fund that have forced budget cuts of over $120 million since 2002. We have worked hard to create a lean, efficient government without sacrificing the quality of services we provide.
The Metropolitan King County Council holds hearings on the budget to gather public testimony.
