The duties of a King County Councilmember extend beyond attendance at Council meetings in the Courthouse. State law requires us to serve on many regional governing boards in such critical areas as transportation, public health, criminal justice, and other quality of life issues that cross jurisdictional boundaries.

  • Sound Transit Board -- Member: Transportation Authority for the Central Puget Sound Region which oversees planning and construction of a bus, commuter rail, and light rail system.

  • Sound Transit Executive Committee -- Member: Considers significant policy issues that are outside the responsibility of other committees.
  • Water Resource Inventory Area # 8 Salmon Recovery Council: Vice Chair: Stakeholders from the Lake Sammamish/Cedar/Lake Washington watershed responding to the Endangered Species Act listing and recovery of Chinook Salmon.
  • Cedar River Council -- Co-Chair: Citizens and elected officials working to preserve and restore the environmental health of Cedar River.

  • Woodland Park Zoo Society Board of Directors -- Member: Supports all aspects of Woodland Park Zoological Gardens and promotes public interest in and greater understanding of wildlife and its conservation and propagation.
  • Henry M. Jackson Foundation -- Member: Founded in 1983 to continue the unfinished work of the late Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson in the fields in which he played a key leadership role: international affairs education, human rights, environment and natural resources management, and public service.
