About podcasting
Just getting started with podcasting? Learn the podcasting basics here.
What is podcasting? Podcasting makes an audio file, typically an MP3 file, available online for downloading via an automatic "feed." You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or a portable media player.
Getting Started: You must have a computer, podcasting software and high-speed Internet connection. To make your podcasts mobile, a MP3 player for audio podcasts or a portable video player for both audio and video podcasts is also needed. You can also play these audio and video podcasts on your home computer.
First download and install podcasting software on your computer (see suggested software downloads below). Then subscribe to the podcast feed. Every software application is different so follow the directions to "Add a Podcast" (sometimes as simple as pasting the RSS Podcast URL into your podcasting software application). When you "Check for New Podcasts," a copy of the podcast will be loaded to your computer and/or your portable player.
Software: You will need to install a podcasting application which allows you to download and access podcasts. Many software applications are available and several options are listed below.
